Brooke Gilbert’s Aquaculture Lab.

While still in high school, Brooke came to UFI with a vision of creating a marine lab.
On a dime this dream came to be a reality and sparked the beginning of UFI’s Marine Lab.

As an avid scuba diver, Brooke has witnessed the damaging effects of the red tide on the South Florida coral reefs. Inspired to save the natural habitat and reduce the algae build up, Brooke approached UFI with a clear outline for her research project, investigating “the effects of G. parvispora on mitigating populations of K. brevis during red tide blooms.”
